Workin out

Sunday was a rest day and I took that quite literally. I did nothing but watch Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries. I love that show.

I did have plans to go snowshoeing with the hubby but his friend needed his help with a sudden move.

Monday was circuit training for an hour. It's even more apparent to me now that my upper body needs way more attention than my lower body. Holy moly! My arms were so sore the next day! I could barely lift them. Pain is progress

Tuesday was spent running for 40 min. It felt good to run again. I don't think i realized how much I was missing it.

Today, I met with my trainer, had a chat about my food journal. How I thought the workouts were going. I hate the food journal, I hate it. I understand the concept but find it almost impossible to track everything i eat. I'm doing it, but I don't like it. Oh well, Ces't la vie. I spent 15 min on the step mill and managed to climb 67 floors. That thing kills me every single time.  It's amazing that I can run 13.1 miles but cant beat the step mill.  After my mandatory workout, I went to pilates. I'm so looking forward to rest day...

Keeping Active

On Thursday, I had to do my first treadmill workout. The speed didn't matter but I had to be at an incline 9 for 40 minutes. I spent a lot of time on the treadmill over the past year training for a half marathon but never at an incline higher than maybe a 5. I felt it the next day in my calves and hamstrings. It wasn't easy and I wanted to quit but i made it. Thank god..

Friday was our first mandatory class. It had boxing elements. I loved it. I didn't love getting up at 5 to make it there though.

Today, I went snowshoeing for the first time. It was fantastic! I spent an hour in Winter Wonderland. I even tried snowshoe running...hard work, fun and my legs will feel it tomorrow. Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day, I might go snowshoeing instead. I truly do live in God's country and the beauty of the forest is calling me back. :)

First Chance Workout.

My gym is having its annual Biggest Loser challenge. This year it's a little different. Instead of offering it to the whole gym, it was only offered to the "VIP". I'm "lucky" enough to be one of those members.

Today was our first chance workout. A chance for our trainer to see where we are at physically I guess. I walked in with high expectations of myself. I thought I would breeze through the workout. I didn't. I didn't consider the fact that I have been sick for the last 6 days and therefore I would be sucking wind.

Besides the fact that I'm still gasping for breath, it was a great workout. I got to meet my nemesis, Spin Bike. We are now up close and personal. I think that our relationship will get more personal over the next six weeks.

I have one rest day per week, and I have to keep a food journal. I hate that part.

While I am excited for the challenge, I am also nervous.

Welcome 2013, It's good to meet you.

I am starting this blog to help me reach my fitness goals for this year. I have some big ones, but seeing as how I reached my 2012 goals I now feel like Wonder Woman.

So here they go. Goal one: Lose the last 20 lbs. Goal two: run at least 1 half-marathon. Goal three: train for a full marathon. Goal four: remain injury free.

Goal three scares the hell out of me! Can I really run 26.2 miles? Yes, I can. If I train, dedicate myself and put my mind to it.

Tomorrow, I start Biggest Loser at my gym. I'm excited to try new challenges.

Here's to an amazing, exciting and challenging year!
